Set in a natural, unspoiled setting, the Le Grand Large hotel is nestled among the dunes on one of the most beautiful beaches on the Île d’Oléron. Surrounded by forest, dunes, and the ocean, discover this family-friendly establishment, where well-being and a change of scenery are the order of the day.
The hotel was built in 1965 by Mr. and Mrs. Moreau, a passionate couple eager to embark on a major project: creating a high-end hotel with “Le Corbusier”-style architecture that would blend seamlessly into its natural surroundings while offering exceptional services. It was a successful venture, as it remained in the same family for over 30 years.
Passing from one family to another, the Le Grand Large hotel underwent a renovation in 2011 and was managed for over 10 years by the Bougnard family, who fell in love with the hotel. Far more than just renovations, its new owners have imbued it with an identity, a soul, and a strong family atmosphere—all characteristics that have won the hearts of its cherished guests over time.
Always on the lookout for new gems, The Boutique Hotels Collection has well-defined selection criteria: intimate establishments located in attractive, historic settings—criteria that the Oléron hotel perfectly meets, joining the collection in 2022.
A gourmet restaurant, a rooftop, expanded terraces, and carefully curated decor… Le Grand Large Hotel is turning a new page in its history with a fifth star, establishing itself today more than ever as a luxury hotel on the island of Oléron—a truly exclusive and refined destination. Thanks to the bridge connecting the island to the mainland, you can reach Oléron by car or motorcycle. Follow the A10 highway and exit at Saintes or La Rochelle depending on where you’re coming from (for example, take the Saintes exit from Bordeaux and the La Rochelle exit from Nantes or Paris).

Located in the commune of Saint-Pierre d'Oléron, within sight of Fort-Boyard, the Golf d'Oléron faces the Atlantic islands. In an exceptional setting, along the ocean and the dunes of the east coast, the nine-hole Golf d'Oléron is a veritable jewel case of greenery and calm. Open all year round, the golf course covers some 30 hectares. In addition to its 9-hole sanctioned course, it also boasts two putting greens, a 6-hole school course and a 25-place driving range.
